Resilience: The ability to recover quickly from difficulties

Building resilience is a healthy strategy for people with PTSD. Resilience helps you recover quicker and also be prepared for any future traumatic difficulties. These are a few ways to build resilience:
• Believe in your strength and in God’s strength and presence
• Follow a healthy, steady routine that gives your body enough rest
• Incorporate self-care into your life; having fun, relaxing, doing something nice just for you
• Eat well, exercise, get enough rest
• Find a safe place to express your emotions, for example to a trusted friend, a counselor, through writing
• As your inner strength builds, decide on other resilient qualities you’d like to have and work toward them
